The Larry Wieland Story.
Larry Wieland taught mathematics at Lodi High School from 1964 to 2001. He was known for the energy, enthusiasm and passion he brought to his work. He showed students how to enjoy rather than fear the pursuit of solutions to seemingly impossible math problems and to readily accept the challenge to do so. Mr. Wieland was more than a math teacher, however. His encouragement, patience and advice, mentored many students to achieve beyond what they thought possible at the time, extending far beyond the realm of mathematics. Many of his students went on to successful careers that began with learning a structured and rational thought process, a strong math foundation, and his suggestion of great opportunity with such tools well learned. He continues to be an inspiration.
